Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day at Sea Shells Beach Club or just want a great place to eat during your vacation, Daytona has just about everything to offer. Below, we have come up with some highly recommended spots that will give you and your special someone a variety of cuisine and price points to choose from.
Chucherias Hondureñas $$$
Passion abounds at Chucherias, at least for the chef! Chef Mayra Rodriguez opened this restaurant with a burning desire to bring her homeland food to America, and was the first to bring both Central American and Latin food (in one place) to Daytona Beach. This is for the food adventurers ready to enjoy fusion style Central American, Caribbean and Spanish dishes.
Café Du Japon $
Sushi fans rejoice! Chef Maki has been in Daytona for more than 20 years and opened his simple café to give visitors and locals a place to relax both day and night. Café offerings include Japanese-style lunches and dinners like tempura, yakitori, sushi, teriyaki and oyako (all at prices so low you’ll swear it’s a misprint). Sake, beer and wine round out the experience with a modest but varied dessert menu including banana tempura with ice cream, tiramisu, and traditional Japanese red bean and green tea ice creams.
The Garlic $$$
Celebrating the tastes of Tuscany, The Garlic offers not just a lush menu, but a stunning ambience with its Olde World Italian style inside and an outdoor area complete with vine covered arbors and a garden with lit trees and flowering foliage. The signature dish is a rich and complicated seafood stew. Or go with the Bocce Ball, a 16-oz filet mignon meatball. Pair your meal with Italian beer or the perfect martini.
Dolphin View Restaurant $$
For those who want a less adventurous meal in a fun Florida setting on the waterfront, Dolphin View is perfect. If you’re here, it’s a sin not to have something in the seafood department, but if that’s not you’re game, Dolphin View has plenty of all-American favorites like burgers, salads, wraps and a kids menu. Round out your experience with dinner and scenic river cruises right from the restaurant.
It’s tapas time at the trendy Blau. From beef skewers with orange and garlic to serrano ham & mushroom crepe, the unusual small plates at Blau are a meal in themselves. They also have paninis, burgers, and pasta. The dessert menu is a mouthwatering 12 items including churros con chocolate and white grilled peaches with whipped cream.
Grind Gastropub and Kona Tiki Bar $$$
It’s a neighborhood pub setting with high-quality food combined with a typical Tiki Bar on a huge outdoor patio with live music. If that doesn’t cover the bases, what does? Start with truffle marinated portabella fries or lightly fried garbanzo beans tossed in Mediterranean spice, chow down on a free-range bison burger or lobster grilled cheese, and finish with the Campfire Pizza, a wood-grilled smores-style dessert pizza covered with chocolate, grahams and marshmallow.
Whether you’re at Sea Shells Beach Club for Valentine’s Day or any day of the year, these delicious Daytona eateries are sure to please.
