Valentine’s Day Weekend is almost upon us and hopefully you whisked your favorite person or people off to Sea Shells Beach Club for a fabulous ocean-front vacation.
But if you’re not into the typical Valentine’s Day stuff, there are some equally awesome (although far less celebrated) holidays you can celebrate this weekend.
Tortellini Day, February 13
An Italian holiday that can rival the festivities of New Year’s Eve, Tortellini Day celebrates that delectable pasta which is prettily wrapped around some type of filling, from meat to cheese to spinach. Use this day as an excuse to celebrate your inner Italian at some of Daytona’s finest restaurants.
Located beach side on A1A in Daytona Beach, Rossellini’s is known for offering a fine Italian dining experience indoors or outdoors, with live music on the patio. Try the “Tortellini con Spinaci ai Quattro Formaggi” (tri-color tortellini in four-cheese sauce).
- Vince Carter’s
Who says an American steakhouse owned by an NBA star can’t have great pasta? Try the seafood tortellini “a la vodka,” with crab, shrimp and scallops in a tomato vodka sauce.
Cream-filled Chocolates Day, February 14
The first cream-filled chocolates as we know them today were made in 1912 by Jean Neuhaus II, a Belgian chocolatier, and soon these chocolate contained everything from various liqueurs, to marzipan, to fruits, to caramel, to almost anything else you can imagine.
Daytona has a few candy shops you can visit or just surprise your partner with a special box of chocolates while you watch the sunset from your cozy Sea Shells Beach Club room.
- Angell & Phelps
Probably one of Daytona’s most historic and famous chocolatiers, Angell & Phelps not only has an astonishing assortment of every kind of chocolate you can imagine (plus things dipped in chocolate you probably never imagined), they also offer free tours so you can see how it’s made.
- Zumi’s International Food
Know someone who would appreciate chocolates from Germany, Italy, Turkey or other locations around the world? Zumi’s is one of those hidden gems where you can find interesting international foods that make great gifts. You can find Zumi’s at 2400 S. Ridgewood Avenue in South Daytona, Florida.
Be different and un-Valentine at Sea Shells Beach Club! But don’t be surprised if our pretty resort steals your heart anyway.
