The staff at Sea Shells Beach Club held their 4th Annual Earth Day celebration. This year, the resort held a food drive for a local area food bank instead of the beach walk, and hosted a barbecue pool party.
“The city keeps the beach really clean so this year we wanted to do something that would better help the community,” explains Brooke Maynard, General Manager. “The food drive was a success. All of the donations were provided through the generosity of our guests.”
Brooke and his staff organized the food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Over 170 pounds of nonperishable food was given by guests arriving over a two week period. Each guest donating five nonperishable items received a certificate for a future complimentary one-night rental at Sea Shells Beach Club.
The staff ended the event with a pool deck cook-out from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. Guests enjoyed barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers with all of the fixings. Entertainment was provided by local DJ, Bar-T.
“Overall I couldn’t be more pleased. The guests were able to see how our staff comes together as a team for the cook out and for the community. And the guests were able to take part; it was just a good time,” adds Brooke.
