When you visit Sea Shells Beach Club, you want to explore and experience as much of Daytona Beach as you can. So come Sunday, if you want to worship in a whole new way, drive over to the Daytona Beach Drive-In Christian Church for a service like no other.
Located at 3140 S. Atlantic Ave., the unconventional church has been holding drive in services for more than 60 years. The congregation converted the Neptune Drive-In to a grassy parking lot filled with hundreds of cars each Sunday for services complete with a choir.
The reverend preaches over a special FM radio frequency delivered into each car. Services last approximately 55 minutes. Visitors are welcome to come dressed as they like, and can sit in their vehicles, in the outdoor seating or come indoors to the Friendship Hall. Even better, you can come early for some hot coffee and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
If you’d like to attend the Daytona Beach Drive-In Church during your next visit to Sea Shells Beach Club, come on down! You’ll find three entry points onto the church property referred to as “gates” where you will be greeted by a member of the congregation. They will help you locate 88.5FM on your radio dial, give you a bulletin and a pre-packaged communion set. You select where you’d like to park and participate in worship.
Once services are over, you can drive off to your next Daytona Beach attraction! How do you attend services when you’re on vacation? Share in the comments below.
