As if the magnificent Speedway, fine dining, beach fun, and family attractions aren’t reason enough to visit Sea Shells Beach Club in Daytona, work starts soon on the exciting One Daytona retail plaza.
According to a report in the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the complex is slated to open in 2017 across from the Daytona International Speedway.
Now that its 2½-year, $400 million Daytona Rising makeover of the Daytona International Speedway is complete, the One Daytona project across the street has the green flag for this spring starting with theaters, hotels, stores and apartments. -Daytona Beach News-Journal
Here are just a few of the cool things officials say are coming to One Daytona:
- 300,000 square feet of retail space
- Bass Pro Shop outdoor gear store
- 12-screen Cobb Theatres movie complex
- Rental apartment community
Although the project is too new to have a lot of retailers signed on yet, it’s going to be a great family friendly attraction for Daytona Beach visitors.
In addition, a project of this magnitude will have a massive economic impact on both the City of Daytona Beach and Volusia County.
According to a report from News Daytona Beach, that impact comes in the form of revenue and job creation.
A recently released economic study from the Washington Economic Group shows that Phase 1 of the project – to be built alongside the pedestrian walkway that rises above International Speedway Boulevard near Bill France Boulevard – will support more than 4,700 construction jobs, adding up to $209 million dollars in wages paid and a total economic impact of $583 million to the region.
Once Phase 1 is completed, One Daytona is expected to employ more than 3,100 workers and create another 1,200 permanent jobs that will produce annual wages in excess of $120 million and have a total annual economic impact of $369 million.
One Daytona is part of the overall Daytona Rising project.
This is all exciting news for the future of Daytona Beach future guests at Sea Shells Beach Club. Daytona is definitely on the rise.
