Nancy’s Breakfast Hot Spots

If you’re staying at Sea Shells Beach Club, you’ve already decided to treat yourself to a great vacation, so you owe it to yourself to at least try some of the fabulous food stops in the area.

This week, Sea Shells Beach Club General Manager Nancy R. shares her favorite breakfast recommendations.

“If you want to get a great start on the day by having a delicious breakfast but want to stay away from the typical chains, here are some of the local places that are favorites of Sea Shells staff and guests,” Nancy said.

These restaurants are located within a five- to 20-minute drive from Sea Shells Beach Club either right in Daytona or in nearby Ormond Beach.

Steve’s Famous Diner (Daytona Beach)

Enjoy good home cooking and comfort food at Steve’s. Breakfast menu items that caught our eye: Deluxe breakfast with steak or pork chops and the gyro omelet.

Gateway Restaurant (Daytona Beach)

Named to one of USA Today’s “10 Best” lists, Gateway is a casual dining spot with American food and dependably good and inexpensive breakfast. Gateway is known for above-average coffee and egg dishes like the Southern Benedict.

Donnie’s Donuts (Daytona Beach)

This trendy little spot brings back the old-fashioned coffee-cake style donut with flair. All donuts are handmade and come in a myriad of mouthwatering flavors including key lime pie, caramel apple, and maple bacon to name a few.

Peach Valley Café (Ormond Beach)

With fresh, homemade food, Peach Valley is known for their pie (so try to get some when you’re there). However, they are no slouch at breakfast with specialty menu items like blue lemonberry pancakes and red velvet Belgium waffles along with more traditional fare like breakfast skillets and wraps. Be sure to get in on the fresh apple fritters, tossed table side and served with brown sugar strawberry yogurt.

Alfie’s (Ormond Beach)

Overlook the ocean while enjoying a relaxing breakfast in a casual atmosphere. Get into the Florida seafood vibe with a Cajun shrimp or blue crab omelet or try one of Alfie’s seven types of Benedict, like the Irish Benedict (corned beef hash) or the Salmon Benedict.

It just wouldn’t be a complete vacation without a little indulgence at one of these local favorites. If you are in a hurry or need a snack between meals, don’t forget Sea Shells Beach Club also has healthy snacks and fresh fruit at the front desk!
