The Rolex 24 recently ripped across the Daytona International Speedway, leaving behind dust, exhaust, tire marks…and a list of 24 restaurants that made the cut for the event’s Taste of 24 foodie extravaganza.
We weren’t going to let these fine recommendations go, so here’s a list of some of Florida’s favorite food. The highlights below are less than 15 minutes from Sea Shells Beach Club.
31 Supper Club, 31 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach
The speakeasy atmosphere will take you back to another era, one in which you should really try the black truffle mac & cheese and grilled double bone pork chop with apple bourbon butter.
Azure at the Shores Resort & Spa, 2637 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach
A cheerful fine-dining establishment on the water, Azure is open for breakfast (who doesn’t deserve a lobster & gruyere frittata?), lunch and dinner. Try the scallop and duck capellini.
Backyard Boys BBQ & Catering, 1840 S. Ridgewood Ave., South Daytona
Indulge your Southern side with Backyard Boys’ pulled pork, barbecue beans and banana pudding for dessert.
Chicken Salad Chick, 75 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach
With more than 15 flavors of chicken salad, the only problem here is picking one. Try the Jazzy Julie (cayenne, bacon, shredded cheddar) or Luau Lydia (pineapple, macadamia nuts).
Kale Café, 116 N. Beach St., Daytona Beach
No food guilt here. Try a fresh juice, jerk mushrooms, brown stew tofu or kale salad at this, you guessed it, vegan restaurant and juice bar.
The Roof, 1200 Main St., Daytona Beach
Located on top of the Main Street Pier, the Roof is always where the party’s at. Try their classic crab dip or just about any kind of shellfish you can think of.
Virgola, 63 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach
They had me at Italian and Wine and Bar. Wine lovers will enjoy the impressive wine list, while foodies will enjoy the raw bar and caviar menus. There’s also a cheese menu – choose from six types of unusual cheeses to accompany your meal.
